The AV technology needs of the military are diverse and wide-ranging – from distributed audio systems for announcements in military barracks, to conferencing and presentation systems for meeting rooms, field-ready communications systems and mobile videoconferencing systems. The one true constant is that the military relies on technology that is reliable, secure and works well in adverse conditions. As a result, many AV equipment manufacturers have embraced the military's needs by producing equipment that meets the Department of Defense (DOD) Mil Spec standards.
In fiscal year 2010, the United States Department of Defense proposed spending $23.67 billion for procurement and research in military communications, electronics, telecommunications and intelligence technologies. The continued relationship between the AV industry and the U.S. military presents an opportunity for both parties to advance technology performance and develop new applications that keep our service men and women safe, secure and informed.
